Joe Hachem ~ 2006 Aussie Millions Main Event

While the 2005 WSOP was my second try at the world
championship event, this was the first time I had made the
money ~ in fact my first cash in any tournament.  And what a
tournament!  With over 5600 players and a prizepool of nearly
US$53 million, the 2005 main event broke all poker records. I
managed to make it through four gruelling days, finishing in 63rd
place as the second highest placed woman, and taking home
nearly $150,000 for my efforts.....

After nearly 2 years away from Australia, I returned to
Melbourne in January 2006 to play in my favourite tournament ~
the Aussie Millions.  I played my first game of Holdem in the
Crown's card room back in 2000 and so it holds a special place
for me.  Sadly my enthusiasm for being back was not reflected in
my results, though the ring games ~ and the parties! ~ helped
make up for a lacklustre tournament performance.  It was also
great to bump into Joe Hachem again ~ we'd last spoken during
the WSOP 2005 main event when, as the only remaining
Aussies, we wished each other luck.  If only my luck had lasted
as long as his!
In 2006 I again returned to try my luck at the World Series of
Poker, this time staying for the duration in the hopes of playing
as many of the events as possible. In addition to collecting an
archive of World Series photos, in 2006 I also kept a
blog
focused on the events I played, updating both the photos and
gallery throughout the WSOP.
